Behaviour

"Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour. Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. They listen to teachers and to each other, and they are polite and engaging when talking to adults. Pupils show respect and kindness to others from different backgrounds or with different abilities." Ofsted 2023

Good behaviour for learning at Royal Park Primary School is fundamental to creating a positive and effective educational environment.

At Royal Park Primary, we believe that positive behaviour is the foundation for a successful learning environment. Our children are encouraged to express themselves respectfully and to treat one another with kindness. We celebrate their personal developments, which contributes to a safe and nurturing school community.

Understanding Zones of Regulation

To support our children in managing their emotions and behaviour, we implement the Zones of Regulation program. This framework helps children identify their feelings and understand how these emotions affect their actions. The zones: blue, green, yellow, and red represent different emotional states, enabling children to recognize when they might need support. Please see our wellbeing section for more information.

Creating a Self-Regulation Toolkit

We empower our children to develop their own toolkit for self-regulation This toolkit includes strategies such as:

  • Breathing Techniques: Simple exercises to calm down.

  • Movement Breaks: Activities to release excess energy.

  • Mindfulness Practices: Techniques to help focus and stay present.

With these tools, children learn to navigate their emotions and make positive choices, fostering independence and resilience.

The Importance of Good Behavior

Good behaviour is essential not just for individual success, but for the collective well-being of our classrooms. When children have positive learning behaviours, they create an environment where everyone can thrive. Respectful interactions and self-regulation skills enable children to engage fully in their education, leading to improved academic performance and social relationships.

At Royal Park Primary, we are dedicated to supporting our children as they learn and grow. Together, we cultivate a community where everyone can succeed!
