Science
At Royal Park, we deliver an immersive Science curriculum that is progressive across the primary years. Balancing skills and knowledge, we provide a rich learning experience which allows children to understand Science in the real world.
Through each unit, a big question is explored e.g. what would the world be like if the only living things to exist were mammals? This allows the children to put their learning into a context and apply it to the world that we live in.
We understand the importance of networking in Science and do this by participating in whole-school investigations and national events such as Science week.
As a school, we celebrate scientific discoveries and recognise the influential work of scientists. Where possible, we aim to make links between scientists and key national events that we celebrate in school.
With facilities such as forest school and the Science lab, children at Royal Park are able to explore scientific processes in the world around them and put their understanding of Science into practice. We work diligently to provide our children with rich experiences to ensure that they are exposed to Science – which is all around us!
In our science lessons, we set high expectations on the quality of work including the accuracy of key scientific vocabulary and ensuring handwriting is as consistent in these lessons as it is in English.
Through questioning, inquisition and curiosity, our children enter the exciting world of Science.
